BACKGROUNDE&M Power was formed in September 2000 with the merger of Electronic Power Conversion (EPC) and Mechanical Power Conversion (MPC). We provide custom design and manufacture of complete power systems including permanent magnet motors and generators, motor drives, inverters, DC-DC converters, lighting ballasts and commercial and industrial power supplies. Products range in power from 8 watts to 165 kilowatts for commercial and military applications including:
- Hybrid Electric Vehicle Motor/Generators and DC-DC Converters
- Standby and Portable Generator Set Motor/Generators, Inverters and Control Systems
- Compressor Motors
- Deep Sea Submersible HID Lighting Systems
- Electric Bicycle Motor Controllers
- Fuel Cell Inverters
- Cell Tower Motor InvertersWe maintain a flexible approach to business and continually work with potential customers to identify the best system level approach to achieving overall program success. As a result we have structured programs were we have provided turn-key systems including design, packaging and manufacturing, as well as providing individual component designs that are packaged by our customers into their overall system.
FACILITIES AND MANUFACTURING
To support continued growth in development and manufacturing we are in the process of expanding to a 10,000 square foot facility. We are fully integrated with the capability to design, test and manufacture. Rotating machine capability includes the assembly of permanent magnet rotors and stators, dynamic balancing, vacuum-pressure impregnation, electrical insulation testing, drive rigs and torque measurement. For electronic assemblies we perform both thru-hole and surface mount assembly of printed wiring boards, final assembly and testing.
PRODUCT DESIGN, ANALYSIS AND TEST
We have extensive experience with power systems including component and system design, EMI and safety agency approvals. Our expertise includes inverters, DC-DC converters, battery charging and control, engine control systems, power regulation and control, alternators and motor systems. Design tools include solid modeling, FEA, CFD, PSPICE and modified/internally developed software. Test capabilities include the standard electronic and motor drive facilities and equipment.
